Seasonal decor, yay or nay?

I keep things minimal and just swap out a couple everyday items so that I’m not adding *more*. Things like my kitchen candle, pillow covers, and kitchen towels from @geometry.house #ad. I love all the fun prints and sustainable material. Check out my stories today to see which new fall prints I’m rotating in.

P.S. I also use the “kitchen” towels for bathroom hand towels around the house.

If you have the space, stocking a lower cabinet with kids kitchen supplies is 👌 and promotes independence.

It doesn’t have to be a drawer - in our old kitchen I installed pull out bins in a lower cabinet - it only has to be accessible. Providing some structure helps too, like these simple bins I use to keep things neat and tidy. They can now get their own drinks, snacks and (some) meals without climbing on the counters or asking for help. #parentingwin

Sharing our setup that helps create a routine and (mostly) eliminates forgetfulness in the mornings. I’m not a huge fan of backpacks and laptops sitting out in our main living spaces but it’s a price I’m 💯 willing to pay to make our mornings easier for everyone. I’m not entirely neurotic, it’s called balance 🤪.

This approach could be applied to any home - look for areas to group like things where they are most often used. For instance our school loop starts and ends at the garage door.

When you make it convenient, even the most unmotivated (ahem, kids) can be persuaded to maintain a system.

You know we love making family movie night a little extra!

Last night I made a Memory game with pairs of the cartoon and live action movie versions (swipe ➡️) and the last pair picked was the movie we watched. We ended up watching the live action Lady and the Tramp and got @noodlescompany takeout to go with it.

When I mentioned the memory game idea you all asked for more so here are a few other “groupings” of movies I have on deck. (We have 3 girls aged 12, 12, and 7 so the offerings are targeted a bit towards them).
