I’m all for working with what you’ve got, but this pantry always bothered me no matter how much I organized (and reorganized). So what’s a girl who loves to DIY and organize to do? RIP. IT. OUT and start fresh with a pantry remodel project. Now? Well now I can’t stop smiling every time I open the door.
The Design
Measuring about 32″ deep by 64″ wide, the old L-shaped shelves created wasted vertical space and hard to reach corners. Using the two side walls makes for easier maneuvering and adjustable shelves actually creates MORE room than there was before. Fresh white walls and the cutest wallpaper you ever did see from Spoonflower made everything bright and so much fun.

Shelving System
For the shelving I used hanging rails and brackets from The Container Store’s Elfa line but IKEA Bergshult shelves for a better fit (Elfa shelves are max 30″ while the IKEA shelves were 31 1/2″). Elfa is really easy to use and the hanging hardware can be cut down to custom sizes for free in the store. I especially love the drawer unit and cart for added storage. {Pro tip: Elfa goes on sale a couple times a year so create a wish list online and then wait for a good deal!}

Storage
Divide and conquer. The left side stores snacks, cooking goods, and backstock while the right is predominately baking and storage. Specific products used to organize the space included:
- Large Wooden Stacking Bins hold bagged/loose snacks
- Woven Storage Bins for boxed snacks, breads, and nuts (the trim looks black on store site but they are really gray!)
- Tellfresh Store & Pour Food Dispensers keep regular snack items fresh
- Divided Lazy Susans hold snack bars and jarred foods
- Lazy Susan Turntable for cooking oils and spreads
- Expandable Shelf Organizer stores canned goods
- Linus XL & Rectangle Pantry Bins keep everything else grouped and contained
- A mixture of ProKeeper, OXO Good Grips Canisters, and Slide & Pour Dispensers (as well as some discontinued containers I had on hand) held all of the baking powders and loose grains.

If you saw my last baking cart {remember this?} I think you’ll love this one even more – I know I do. The Elfa drawers make all the difference and hold so much more than just the mixer!

I’ll be hanging out here if you need me. Happy organizing!
