This has been the loooongest winter and I cannot wait to throw one of my daughter’s coats directly in the trash when the temps hit above 50 degrees. In anticipation of some sunshine, I’m doing a spring kids clothing and gear refresh. Who’s with me?!?
Start with the essentials and go through all clothing to check for sizing and condition (bye bye slime-stained coat). Don’t forget socks, underwear, jackets, swimwear, and shoes. Once sorted, be sure to act on the discards immediately. Toss, donate, or store for a younger sibling – just don’t leave it in the closet to deal with later.
I like to keep a “too small” and “too big” bin in my kids closet to prevent things from getting out of control throughout the year. This makes it easier to keep outgrown items from cluttering up drawers and lets you know at a glance if you have a replacement. {Want fancy labels for your bins? Grab them HERE}
If you want to be super prepared to send your kids out the door and enjoy some much needed peace and quiet, take inventory of a few extra items. Be sure to check any gear for sizing or potential expiration. My full checklist can be seen below. Consider your laundry schedule, regular activities, and local weather when deciding on the right amount or each item for your family.
Now that you know exactly what you have, you can replace needed spring kids clothing and gear without overbuying. For a copy of the checklist of items to go through and recommended amounts to keep in stock click HERE.
Until next time Winter, it’s been real.
